Axe Backwards
About Us
Do you love a good time with friends and family, but it’s hard to meet them out on the town? Are you tired of the same old events for company picnics or team building? Have you tried to find an exciting fundraiser that people will actually respond to and participate in? US TOO! So, we asked ourselves, “Why not put Axe Throwing on wheels?” That is exactly how we began Axe Backwards, “Where We Bring the Target to You”
We are proud to say that we are the first Mobile Axe Throwing business in the Dayton area and we serve surrounding areas within a 20 Mile radius of the I70 and I75 Interchange. We also want you to be comfortable in a setting that is familiar whether that is in your backyard, or the workplace..
We wanted to bring you the best experience right out of the gate as well. Our “Big Bad Axe Arena” is a 20 x 8 trailer with two throwing lanes. We also have custom built targets that help the axes stick better and lessen the chances of axes bouncing back toward you. Want to throw at something other than a plain, circle target? We have you covered. Our arena is equipped with games that are projected onto the target area. This allows us to offer more games than the same old standard circles. We can even design a custom tournament for your event if you like a good competition.
You’ve never thrown axes before? No worries, we will teach you how to throw safely, and show you how to get the most out of the experience. By the end of your event, we hope you will be just as stuck on axe throwing as we are.
We hope our initial year brings new relationships, excitement and memorable moments to your event. We will continue next year with another mobile unit or more! You never know what we’re up to!
Meet the Founders
Meet Alan and Michelle Staas, the husband and wife team of over 23 years and the owners of Axe Backwards. They grew up in the Dayton, Ohio area and know that this is an area where people love to have fun!
Alan is a retired US Navy Veteran with 24 years of service, and is currently working with the FAA. Michelle is a Realtor and served Navy families for five years as a Navy Family Ombudsman and in various roles in Family Readiness Groups. They have spent their life together serving others while raising a family. They look forward to sharing in your special event and providing you with the best mobile axe throwing experience that they possibly can. They absolutely love axe throwing, and they can’t wait for you to love it too. That’s why the idea of a mobile company was appealing to them - so they could bring a good axe time to the masses!
